Cannabis Cocktails

Yes, you read that correctly. Cannabis Cocktails!  Before we get into that, you’ll need to create a Tincture.  What the heck is that? Alcohol infused with cannabis, that’s what!  Cannabis Tinctures have been used in all cultures as medicine and were prescribed by doctors in the United States to treat all manner of illnesses, until the prohibition of marijuana in 1970.  Click Here to read about the history and other facts from Medicinal Cannabis: History, Pharmacology, And Implications for the Acute Care Setting Copyright © 2017, MediMedia USA, Inc.

Now that you know how Cannabis Tinctures were used, why not use them to make infused cocktails!  The ratio to make your Tincture is 1 ounce of decarboxylated cannabis to 750 ml of the strongest alcohol you can find (think Everclear).  Add your decarbed cannabis to the alcohol and store it in a cool dark place.  Every week you will shake the bottle and put it back.  After 4 weeks, your Tincture is done infusing.  Strain the alcohol to remove the bits of cannabis, and it’s ready to use.  Make sure to keep the Tincture stored in a cool dark place! Our tinctures from Garden Remedies would be perfect as they’re ready for use! https://www.gardenremedies.com/tinctures / Our Squeezes from Curaleaf are also perfect to make a drink with since they are already flavored. The squeezes are essentially like MIO’s but infused with thc. (Check out https://selectcannabis.com/ for more)

How Do I Dose a Cocktail?
My suggestion to you is to test the Tincture and figure out how strong it is before you go adding it to your cocktail.  The easiest way to figure it out? Put a drop under your tongue and wait about 15-20 minutes to see how it makes you feel. Then you can adjust the dosage accordingly.  I would use 2-3 drops of the Tincture for a Cannabis Cocktail – Less is better, but you can always take more if you need to.

I wouldn’t suggest using both alcohol and Tincture in a cocktail, especially if you aren’t used to taking cannabis in a Tincture.  Use your best judgment.
